From weight loss to lustrous hair and beautiful skin, there are so many things you can do with eggs. They are known to be super-rich in vitamins and minerals such as selenium, vitamin B12, B6 and D, zinc, copper, and iron. It is also said that eggs are a 'complete' source of protein. The very reason behind it is that they contain all nine essential amino acids, including the ones that we cannot synthesise in our bodies. These amino acids are obtained through various diets. When it comes to using egg in daily life, we all cook them in several ways. However, it has more uses than just cooking. Since ages, the egg has been used for various other purposes as well such as for beauty and hair growth. To know more about its other uses, read below...
01/ For oily skin
Egg works like magic on oily skin. All you need to do is apply a thin layer of egg white on your face. Make sure you have washed and dried your face before this. Once applied, let it dry and rinse off with normal water. It will not only control the extra oil but tighten the pores that ooze out oil on your skin.
02/ For oily scalp
You can make an egg hair mask with some honey and apply well on your scalp. To make the same, whisk 2 egg whites with honey and apply on your oily scalp. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and shampoo your hair to remove the smell of eggs. This egg mask can help you get rid of the greasy hair and control the oiliness in your scalp.
03/ For removing facial hair
The egg acts as a natural wax to remove those unwanted facial hair. Make a paste of one egg white and sugar, and apply evenly on your face using a brush. Then, cover with a paper towel with holes near nostrils and eyes. Then, brush another layer of whisked egg white and sugar over the paper towel and let dry for 2 minutes. Then, pull the paper in the opposite direction of your facial hair and voila, your face will be clean in no time. You can wash your face afterwards with a face wash to get rid of the egg smell.
04/ For sagging skin
Eggs can actually make you look younger. All you need to do is make a face mask using whisked egg whites. All you need to do is apply a thin layer of whisked egg white on your face and dry completely. Once dried, wash it off with plain water. It will remove any sagging skin while controlling wrinkle formation and premature ageing.
05/ Cure for hangover
Well, this might come as a surprise, but eggs can be used to cure a hangover. With a rich amount of cysteine (a kind of amino acid), eggs can help you in breaking down the acetaldehyde, which is the root cause of hangovers. Essential minerals in eggs also help the body get rid of toxins that build-up with binge drinking. You can simply eat boiled eggs in breakfast or make a dish like shakshuka, egg benedict and even bacon and egg.
06/ The perfect garden ade
Eggs act as a natural fertilizer for the soil. So, the next time you are using eggs, make sure that you don’t throw away their shells. Just wash them before using and crush as fine as you can. Once done, add the crushed eggs in the soil and mix well to make the organic fertilizer. Not just that, but you can also use them for the compost bin, as eggshells are known to be rich in calcium.
07/ Works as pigments
Eggs are also used by painters as a binding ingredient. It's said that in ancient times, egg white was used by painters as a temporary varnish for their paintings. On the other hand, egg yolk was used to bind the pigments and to be used as painting colour.
08/ For making glossy paper
In the olden times, albumen or the gelatinous part of an egg was used for photographic printing. For this process, a mixture of albumen and salt was made. Then, a clear paper was laid on this mixture and left for drying. Once dried, it used to make the glossy coated paper, which is the common paper used for printing pictures from any negative.
