Everyone loves a little colour in their hair, something that enhances their look and makes them stand out from the crowd. However, we’re all very skeptical about colouring our hair. The reason behind this dubiousness lies in the toxic chemicals and dangerous synthetics present in the hair-dyes that damage our hair to no extent and instead of making them vibrant, our hair becomes more dull and depressing.
However, we are not devoid of other natural ways and organic alternatives. You can always resort to natural ingredients to colour your hair. Not only is it easily available at our homes but is effective and has no ill effects.
Here are some of the natural hair dyes, you can make at home:
01/ Beetroot juice
If you’re looking for a nice reddish shade of hair colour, then beetroot is your best bet. To prepare the colour, all you need is a cup each of beetroot juice and carrot juice and spray bottle. Mix all these ingredients together and pour it into a spray bottle. Spray it all over your hair and cover it up for over 3 hours. Rinse it off with cold water and notice the change in the colour of your hair.
02/ Lemon juice
One of the most essential ingredients in a kitchen are lemons. But did you know that lemons could be a great natural hair dye? It is acidic in nature and can help in lightening your hair. To prepare the same, squeeze out all the juice from the lemon and add a tablespoon of water in it. Mix the two together and put it in a spray bottle. After applying it all over the hair. When your hair feel damp enough, you can cover it up and bask it in the sun for at least an hour. Finally, wash it off with normal water.
03/ Coffee
Coffee is a great natural alternative for grey hair. It can give you a wonderful dark brown shade and even enrich your hair quality. Firstly, you must brew a strong, black coffee and let it cool down for some time. Add two squeezes of leave-in hair conditioners into the brewed coffee. Pour the mixture in a spray bottle and apply it on the hair and let it rest for an hour. Then wash it gently with normal water. Avoid using any shampoo.
04/ Chamomile tea
If you’re looking for a light hair-shade, then you must resort to chamomile tea. To prepare the dye, you must first boil ½ a cup of chamomile flowers in the water. Leave it to rest for an hour and in the meantime, wash your hair. Then pour the brewed tea through your damp hair at least 10 times. Let it remain for about 16 minutes and rinse it off. Repeat the process at least once a week to maintain the bright colour in your hair.
05/ Black tea
It is loaded with tannic acid which can darken your hair over time. All you need to do is brew a few cups of very strong black tea (use 5 tablespoons/ 5 teabags), cool the water and pour it through your hair. Let it soak for up to 30 minutes before rinsing out with warm water.
