Everyone has a different language of love but millennials have taken it to a different level. They are finding new dating terms to make their feelings clear towards the other person. These days, people engage in a lot of other things that's got nothing to do with love but all the earlier stages instead. And if you're not keeping up with these new dating terminologies, you're missing out on understanding how the young minds work these days. Here are a few for you to get a hang on:
01/ Slow fade
This is where the person who you've dated/spoken to/showed interest in starts to become less available for you. You rarely call/text/meet. Eventually, the whole relationship between you two starts to fade out. Basically, you've broken up without a conversation or an explanation at all.
02/ Ghosting
This is an even more extreme form of slow fade as it happens faster than you'll realize. There will be one random moment where the person will decide to stop talking to you all at once and you'll be left wondering what even went wrong.
03/ Mooning
This one is rather hurtful where the person you're interested in or have been speaking with has slyly turned off notifications for your messages because they simply don't care about you anymore. This can very much happen even if they like you and intend to talk to you, later.
04/ Benching
This is exactly what it sounds like where someone keeps you on the back burner or on the bench. Here, you might get a chance to be with that person, but only if nobody else has their interest. Basically, you're just put on hold
05/ Tuning
This is more or less like flirting that typically happens between two friends or two people who casually flirt with each other. It usually involves one person being interested more than the other one.
06/ Laybe
This is where someone who's already in a relationship but isn't quite happy about it. The person who's slowing sliding towards being single again is scoping for potential hookups for later or even flirting. A laybe is where you aren't available right now, but plan to be sooner than later. These kinds of people don't like being single for even a day.
07/ Exing
This one means being obsessed with your ex and all the drama that was in the past. You might be patching up and breaking up back and forth with your ex which only keeps on adding more drama to your life.
08/ Umfriend
This person is your hookup buddy, booty call, someone who is your friends with benefits. Typically one of those moments when the person is caught sneaking out of your house and when your friend asks you about them, you say, "That's my, um, friend."
