10 vegetables you can grow at home and how?

If you are expecting this guide to begin with directions of what types of seeds or starter plants to buy, hold your horses. Why get into all that when you can regrow using the food you already have at your home? Eating healthy will no longer be expensive after you start growing these 10 vegetables at your home!

01/ Coriander

Coriander is a versatile herb used in a variety of dishes, dips and salsas. It can be easily grown in a pot or in your backyard. Seeds work best for growing cilantro as they germinate in 7 to 10 days time.

02/ Potatoes

Potatoes are one of the easiest vegetables to grow at your home. Sometimes they grow by themselves when you leave potatoes for too long. Simply bury a whole potato in some soil or a glass pot and wait. The potato will bear root and a new plant will push through in no time.

03/ Pumpkin

Pumpkins can sprout out anywhere and are easy to grow. You can also follow the same process for squash. Just bury the seeds from a pumpkin in soil and the shoot will sprout in a few days.

04/ Basil

Basil is an amazing herb to have in the garden because of its versatility. It can be grown anytime the whole year but take form really nicely in summer. It can easily regrow, so once you plant basil you can cut the leaves and it will always have fresh basil when you need.

05/ Mushrooms

Simply remove the caps of the mushrooms and plant them in your garden. It needs the right time and environment to grow, but if you do it right, you will have fresh mushrooms whenever you need them.

06/ Peppers

Peppers contain a lot of seeds and thus are easy to grow at home. Just collect seeds from a pepper, clean and dry them on a paper towel and plant them in a pot or in the garden. You can also grow them small containers.

07/ Lemon

If you love lemonade and use lemon zest in your food, a lemon tree is a must-have. Just pick the seeds, clean and dry them properly, then plant them in your garden. In one or two years you will have your own lemon tree.

08/ Romaine Lettuce

Instead of throwing away the centre of the lettuce after cutting the leaves, just put in some soil to grow new lettuce. New leaves will start poking through in a few days and you can grow it inside or outside. Also, you can repeat this process as many times you like.

9/ Green onions/ Scallions

Green onions or scallions work best in salads, fried rice, noodles and just about anything that needs a little garnishing. Just put the unused parts with the roots of the onion in a glass of water and put it near the window so that it can get some light. In a few days, you will notice them growing new shoots!

10/ Tomatoes

You don’t need to buy seeds to grow tomatoes. You can use the seeds inside the tomato and grow your own tomato plant. Just extricate the seeds using a toothpick on a tissue paper or simply bury a half part of the tomato. The decomposition of the rest of the tomato will help the plant to grow.
