15-Day Weight Loss Challenge |
We all know the goodness of fruits and vegetables in our every day diet but in the day’s rush we often forget and opt for quick foods.
Winter is the perfect time to feast on healthy green leafy vegetables and that is exactly what you should do. And if you already include a variety of vegetables in your diet, the next obvious step is to add lots of colour to your basket.
Bell peppers, broccoli, spinach, tomatoes, lady finger, carrots, french beans and the list goes on. The easiest way to plan your every day diet is to plan your meals in a manner that you eat a minimum of 5 variety of vegetables every day.
Coming to fruits, this is the best time to feast on oranges, guava, papaya and more. Also have one fruit at a time. Having a fruit platter may sound like a good idea to have everything at once but if you want to go easy on your digestive system, it is best to have one fruit at a time.
Every time you crave junk, pick a fruit or prepare a vegetable salad.
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the 5-a-day campaign recommends having a minimum of 400g of fruit and vegetables a day to lower the risk of health problems like heart disease, stroke and even some types of cancer.
While you start with this healthy habit, make sure you continue drinking enough water throughout the day.
